I'm 90's cartoon rock star sensation JEM this Halloween!
What I love about Halloween is I can be anyone I want to be! Any actor, any profession, any person from any era. I love Halloween!
When I was a kid I watched Jem and the Holograms on TV. It was one of my favourite cartoons. Jem was a Rock Star and had really cool rock star friends in her band with multicoloured hair! I would have LOVED to dress as Jem for Halloween, but most years my mom just put a sheet over our heads and cut out two eye holes for a ghost costume.
Now that I'm older I can really have fun with this holiday! To me it's worth it to put a little effort into a costume that can make me feel special for one night, a costume that can give me the power to be someone else, to step out of my everyday self and be someone new! Or just have fun being terrifying and ghostly.
I don't like scary movies, haunted houses, zombie houses or zombie parades, but I still have a blast on Halloween! Being part of a writer's group I get to attend a Halloween party with a dynamic mix of costumes and personalities. I look forward to it every year!
